A man in Michigan was overjoyed to learn he won half of a $626,394 Fantasy 5 jackpot, which amounts to $313,197, courtesy of the Michigan Lottery.
The anonymous 40-year-old winner purchased the winning ticket at Kum & Go on Division Avenue South in Wyoming.
"I play Fantasy 5 regularly and check my tickets the morning after the drawing on the Michigan Lottery app," the player shared. "I scanned my ticket using the ticket scanner in the app and got a 'Not a Winner' message. I looked to see where the winning tickets were sold and saw one of them was sold at the store where I bought my tickets.
To his satisfaction, he realized that he had scanned the wrong ticket. The ticket that appeared as a non-winner was from the previous week. He then found the new ticket to see if it was a winner.
"I scanned the correct ticket and started shaking when the prize amount of $313,197 came up on the screen. It was so exciting," The 40-year-old man told the Michigan Lottery.
On Oct. 6, he won half the $626,394 Fantasy 5 jackpot by matching the winning numbers: 04-07-13-28-33. The lucky winner recently visited Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim the big prize.
According to the Michigan Lottery, he plans to use the money to pay bills, help family, and bolster savings.
